Stars Then And Now: These Celebrity Transformations Are So Drastic We Can’t Believe Our Eyes

Wayne Newton – Age 83

American singer Wayne Newton is among the best performers Las Vegas has ever seen. He began his illustrious career as a teen in the ‘50s, opening for bigger acts at the time. After scoring a hit in the song Daddy, Don’t You Walk So Fast, his star rose in the ‘70s.

Now nearly in his 80s, Newton understandably looks much older than when he first entered the scene. He has taken good care of his skin, though, and is showing minimal wrinkling. It seems like he’s been diligent with anti-aging procedures over the decades. As of 2021, Mr. Las Vegas’ show is still postponed.

Courtney Love – Age 57

Looking at Hole frontwoman Courtney Love in her prime, it’s no shock that the late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain was so smitten with her. Her blonde locks, full lips, and feminine style served as a stark contrast to the rock music she produced.

Now 57, Love is still rocking her signature light tresses. She’s looking a bit different in the face region, though. The Doll Parts singer has previously admitted to getting a lifting procedure, which might explain her transformation. She made headlines again in June 2021 for accusing newcomer Olivia Rodrigo of copying her Live Through This album cover.

Barbra Streisand – Age 79

We’ve got to say, the candid shot on the right doesn’t do Babs justice! Although Hollywood legend Barbra Streisand doesn’t look the same way she did in the ‘60s musical Hello Dolly!, she still looks great. She’s nearly 80 and is understandably showing signs of aging, after all.

What we admire about the Woman In Love singer, though, is that she seems to be embracing the natural process of growing older. Streisand, who announced the coming of her album Release Me 2 in August 2021, isn’t hiding her wrinkles or the grays in her tresses.

Keely Shaye Smith – Age 57

Keely Shaye Smith is the lucky lady former Bond actor Pierce Brosnan fell in love with. The pair has been happily married since 2001 and share two sons together. However, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows for them, especially for Smith. She faced criticism for putting on weight over the years and was even fat-shamed on social media.

Perhaps that’s part of why she chose to lose a reported 100 pounds through the Atkins diet. Whatever the reason is, we think Smith looks gorgeous, and we bet Brosnan does, too. The couple would be celebrating the 20th anniversary of their nuptials in August 2021.

Tina Louise – Age 87

Tina Louise forever endeared herself to TV audiences when she portrayed the flame-haired movie star Ginger Grant in the hit ‘60s sitcom Gilligan’s Island. As of 2020, she remains to be the only living original cast member of the show following the death of her co-star Dawn Wells.

Looking fantastic and still working in her 80s, she is definitely doing her late castmates proud. Louise, who we last saw in the 2019 film Tapestry, continues to don her signature red tresses but has seemingly changed up her makeup style as she aged.

Carmen Electra – Age 49

A lot has changed since we were first introduced to Carmen Electra as a Prince protégé in the early ‘90s. The blue-eyed, brunette singer has since gone blonde and made a name for herself as an actress and glamor model on her own terms.

Now nearly in her 50s, the Baywatch star seems to have taken good care of herself and is aging well. Electra, who we saw in the 2020 documentary series The Last Dance, continues to make guest appearances on shows like The Celebrity Dating Game and performs on stage from to time as well.

Nicole Kidman – Age 54

Nicole Kidman’s Hollywood makeover is among the best ones we’ve seen so far. Originally a curly-haired redhead from Australia, she transformed into a blonde A-list movie star in the ‘90s. While she occasionally switched back to her fiery mane, the Eyes Wide Shut star has been pretty consistent with her look.

Now 54, she’s showing some signs of aging but is still gorgeous nonetheless. After making waves with the miniseries The Undoing, Kidman is gearing up to impress viewers again with her latest show. She’s currently anticipating the release of the Hulu series Nine Perfect Strangers in August 2021.

Nicki Minaj – Age 38

Here’s another inspiring celebrity glow-up! We reckon rapper Nicki Minaj also has puberty to thank, too, though, and not just a fashion stylist. The Starship singer’s shape certainly filled up more into a curvier figure as she grew older. Of course, the fact that she gave birth to her first child in 2020 might also have something to do with her changing body.

Whatever the cause is, we bet Barbs are just happy to know that Minaj is teasing new music. She released her latest album, Queen, in 2018 and her latest solo single, Yikes, in 2020. There’s no news yet of an upcoming full record, but she recently collaborated with rapper Bia.

Melanie Griffith – Age 63

Academy Award-nominated actress Melanie Griffith has always been a stunner since her days, starring in the steamy thriller Body Double. The daughter of the Hitchcock muse Tippi Hedren, she inherited both good looks and acting chops from her famous mother. And it’s clear that she’s aging just as fine, too.

Griffith, whose own daughter Dakota Johnson is also an actress, seems to be embracing the natural process of aging for the most part. We last saw the blonde beauty starring alongside Johnson in the dramedy film The High Note in 2020.

Jessica Simpson – Age 41

Those who got to know singer-turned-businesswoman Jessica Simpson as a petite beauty in the ‘00s might be shocked to see the photo on the right. Her pregnancies have been particularly difficult for her causing her to gain weight in the process.

The good news, though, is that the I Wanna Love You Forever singer always bounces back. Since welcoming her daughter Birdie in 2019, she’s gotten back to her original trim self with the help of a personal trainer. Now 41 and in fantastic shape, Simpson even modeled for her clothing brand’s summer 2021 collection.

Cher – Age 75

With her eye for fashion looks and natural beauty, Cher has mastered the art of transforming herself throughout her almost six-decade career. Perhaps that is the secret behind its longevity. Entering the scene as the other half of the Sonny & Cher musical duo in the ‘60s, she went on to be much more.

An Oscar-winner for the film Moonstruck, the Believe singer, has had her own TV show and several successful musical comebacks. Cher is now 75 and looks considerably different from her younger self. She’s still the same star, though, and that’s what she proved in her latest tour, Here We Go Again, which ended in 2020.

Cheryl Tiegs – Age 73

Cheryl Tiegs is nothing short of a modeling icon. A frequent face on Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issues, the image of her in a pink bikini remains an iconic part of ‘70s pop culture. She also parlayed her fame into a widely successful fashion line for Sears in the ‘80s.

Now 73, The Brown Bunny actress is still a stunner and has aged gracefully. She’s much more lowkey these days, though, and hasn’t acted since 2016. Last we heard, she sold her Los Angeles home in 2020 and occasionally gives fans life updates on her Facebook page.

Sally Struthers – Age 73

Sally Struthers may no longer look the way she did when she shot to fame in the ‘70s sitcom All In The Family, but her talent and charm continue to shine through. A case in point is her excellent performance as the vibrant Babette on Gilmore Girls and its 2016 miniseries revival.

Still rocking her blonde locks, the once-petite American actress remains hard at work in the industry. According to her IMDB, Struthers is due to star in two upcoming projects. One of them is a role in the horror TV show Very Frightening Tales.

Bob Barker – Age 97

Talk about a blast from the past! Younger The Price Is Right fans are more used to seeing game show host Bob Barker as the white-haired man in a suit he’s been for the longest time. But he was a young man, too, once upon a time. And a handsome one at that!

Now 97 years old, Barker rightfully deserves to enjoy the fruits of his decades-long career hosting everything from the Miss Universe pageants to the NBC game show Truth Or Consequences. As of 2020, he reportedly lives in his Hollywood Hills home with an elder care provider.

John Travolta – Age 67

The luscious tresses, the piercing blue eyes, the dance moves. Those became John Travolta’s calling card in the ‘70s as the star of such films as Grease and Saturday Night Fever. And while he’s rocking the bald look today, he still has his natural charms and talents to rely on.

His transformation didn’t stop new projects from coming in at all, it seems. After starring in the comedy-action series Die Hart in 2020, Travolta is due to reunite with his Pulp Fiction co-star Bruce Willis for another silver screen adventure. Catch the pair in the upcoming film Paradise City.

Raquel Welch – Age 80

In the ‘60s, Raquel Welch was among cinema’s most beautiful actresses. Her famously curvy figure is perhaps best remembered in the British film One Million Years B.C. The American star’s performances in movies like Bedazzled and The Three Musketeers further cemented her spot as a feminine symbol.

Now 80, Welch, who popularized her own yoga-based fitness program in the ‘80s, has transformed into an equally stunning older woman. We last saw her starring in the TV series Date My Dad in 2017, and she seems to be taking a break from the spotlight at the moment.

Richard Simmons – Age 73

From his bold style statements to his flamboyant personality, weight loss, and aerobic video star, Richard Simmons is certainly not afraid to be himself. Just look at how he’s embracing the changes in his famous ‘fro as he ages. His tresses might not be what they used to be, but he’s still going to have fun with them with cool hair dye colors!

Simmons has been more lowkey in recent years, though, and hasn’t been spotted a lot publicly since 2014. He did come to the rescue of many in 2020 by uploading some of his past videos on YouTube for everyone to work out to for free.

Scott “Carrot Top” Thompson – Age 56

It looks like Scott, aka Carrot Top, Thompson’s wild hairstyle is still going strong after all these years. First coming into prominence as a comedian in the ‘90s, he made a name for himself thanks to his unique prop-assisted comedy routines.

He’s a Las Vegas legend and once had a residency performing in the popular American destination. Unfortunately, Thompson’s career fizzled a bit when he made his foray into film. Fret not, though; Carrot Top is back and is set to put on a show at the MGM Springfield hotel in October 2021.

Jean Shrimpton – Age 78

A fixture of the Swinging ‘60s in London, Jean Shrimpton, and her five-foot-nine frame shot to fame as one of the world’s first supermodels. Her face graced the covers of magazines like Vogue, Elle, Glamour, and Vanity Fair, just to name a few.

A trendsetter at the time, Shrimpton notably caused quite a stir in Melbourne when she attended Derby Day celebrations in a mini frock. Now 78 and looking quite different from her past self, she rarely makes public appearances these days. She was last photographed strolling around Cornwall in 2011.

Abby Lee Miller – Age 55

Dance Moms star Abby Lee Miller has been through a lot in recent years. So, we understand why she’s had quite a drastic physical transformation in these photos. It looks like she’s lost a lot of weight amid her financial troubles and needs a wheelchair to help her get around these days.

Once upon a time, though, she spent her days on her feet choreographing and mentoring the likes of Jojo Siwa and Maddi Ziegler on her hit Lifetime reality TV show. Miller is still active in the dance, though. As of 2021, she’s busy growing her eponymous dance company.

Beverly D’Angelo – Age 69

Beverly D’Angelo is probably best remembered as mom Ellen Griswold in the National Lampoon’s Vacation film series. She entered the acting scene as a blonde ingenue in the ‘70s on Broadway before moving on to gracing the silver screen. Among her most notable roles is her take on Patsy Cline in Coal Miner’s Daughter.

Now nearing her 70s, D’Angelo is adapting to her more mature looks quite well. Still sporting her signature hair color as she continues her 40 plus years in show business. Catch her next in the upcoming horror film Capps Crossing: Wrong Side Of Dead.

Leonardo DiCaprio – Age 46

Leonardo DiCaprio was only five years old when he began his acting career and a teenager when it took off. So, it’s a given that he transformed drastically to become the Leo we know him as today. Of course, that doesn’t mean that the Titanic star is any less handsome!

The Academy Award-winning actor still has the same piercing blue eyes and long locks that made him a heartthrob in the ‘90s now that he’s in his 40s. That said, we’re excited to see him come back to the silver screen in the upcoming film Killers Of The Flower Moon.

Cybill Shepherd – Age 71

Among the brightest stars of ‘70s American cinema, Cybill Shepherd cemented her place in film history, starring in now-classic films like The Last Picture Show, The Heartbreak Kid, and Taxi Driver. She then followed that stellar stint with small-screen roles in the decades that followed.

Now in her 70s, Shepherd is still proving that she’s a natural beauty whatever makeup look she wears, be it minimal or bold. She continues to light up the screen, and last did so in the Eleanor Coppola film Love Is Love Is Love in 2020.

Jean-Claude Van Damme – Age 60

At the height of his action film career in the ‘90s, Belgian actor Jean-Claude Van Damme sported this mullet. The unique short hairstyle particularly shined in his films Hard Target and Timecop. He’s opted for a more classic clean-cut look, though, now that he’s entered his ‘60s.

But one thing hasn’t changed. Van Damme is still going strong as an action hero. The Double Impact star will grace the silver screen again in the 2021 film The Last Mercenary. The French production will see him play a secret agent turned mercenary, so expect to see his martial arts skills in action again.

Liza Minnelli – Age 75

Liza Minnelli first came to prominence as the daughter of Hollywood legend Judy Garland. But that didn’t stop her from making her own mark in show business. With her vocal chops and signature short ‘do, the Cabaret star went on to join the exclusive EGOT club of celebrities who have won trophies from the four major award-giving bodies.

Minnelli, who’s kept her style consistent as she aged, has primarily retired from acting, it seems. Still, she continues to make documentary appearances into her 70s. We’ll see her next in the upcoming 2021 feature Broadway: Beyond The Golden Age.

Russell Crowe – Age 57

Russell Crowe impressed moviegoers with both his sculpted body and acting skills in ‘00s films like Gladiator and Cinderella Man. So, people who haven’t seen him in a while might be shocked to see him looking different these days. Now in his 50s, he appears to have put on a few extra pounds.

According to reports, Crowe purposely underwent a body transformation for the 2020 thriller film Unhinged. He seems to be in the process of losing weight at the moment, though, and even installed a new sauna in his Sydney apartment, perhaps to hasten the results.

 Jennifer Tilly – Age 62

Speaking of the horror genre, let’s move on to Jennifer Tilly, who’s famous for portraying Tiffany Valentine in the Child’s Play films. The Canadian American actress has a pretty diverse resume and is actually a pro at playing poker. The Hendon Mob website estimates her current total earnings as a player to be around $1 million.

And if that’s not impressive enough, Tilly is also aging flawlessly. Now in her 60s, she seems to have refined her personal style, opting to rock her natural brunette tresses on the red carpet. Watch her reprise her role as the murderous doll Tiffany in the upcoming Chucky TV series in October 2021.
